Motherwell Bridge offers a complete service to customers, with its operations ranging from Design through Procurement, Fabrication, Testing, Surface Preparation & Painting, Transport and Shipping. In addition local projects can be site-erected by a professional and experienced task force.
On the premises we fabricate steel products to any specification using our workshops’ technology. Projects and services vary from one customer to another however we specialize in the manufacture of structural steel, storage tanks and gantry cranes. A core crew of thirty tradesmen operate cutting, shaping and steel handling machinery including some with CNC technology. Training to the latest Steel Manufacturing Technology Processes is regularly carried out. All welders are coded to BSEN 287-1:2004 and certified in 6G pipe welding position. According to project requirements, additional skilled tradesmen are employed on a periodical basis.
The Drawing Office is compliant with best practice and is equipped with the latest CAD software and plotting facilities. Administration, Finance and Operations are provided with a high standard IT infrastructure and reliable technical support.
Figures from recent years detailing amounts of steel processed total approximately 13,500 tons with a yearly average of 2,250 tons. In 2011, Motherwell Bridge also installed 16,200 square metres of cladding.
The engineering and fabrication shop grounds in Hal Far Industrial Estate are ideally situated just 5 minutes up the road from Malta Freeport, one of the foremost import / export sea terminals in the Mediterranean.
A walled perimeter encloses an area of 15,240 square metres from which Motherwell Bridge operates. These premises comprise a large covered workshop covering 5,470sqm housing fabrication machinery and a team of experienced tradesmen. Four overhead cranes each capable of lifting up to 20 tons operate separately or in tandem, each having a clear height of 13m under hook. Engine testing, diagnostic and repair stations are also located within this area.
The larger area of 7,450 square metres is used for assembly & laydown. Painting and blasting works are carried out in separate booths. Standing adjacent and overseeing the workshop, two floors comprise office space with a total area of 560sqm.
