The Minister for Education and Employment, Evarist Bartolo, this morning presented 16 teenage students with certificates on the successful completion of the VET Award in Fundamentals in Welding.

The presentation was held at Motherwell Bridge Industries’workshop in Hal Far.

The course was run by Motherwell Bridge Industries’ technical training facility in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the Employment and Training Corporation, under the Alternative Learning
Programme. Motherwell Bridge Industries is part of Hili Company, the logistics and engineering division
of Hili Ventures.

The students are the first to complete a course at Motherwell Bridge Industries’technical training acility that was inaugurated by Minister Bartolo in September.

Unlike similar facilities, Motherwell Bridge Industries’ technical training facility gives course participants the opportunity to learn through practice in an industrial workshop environment. Experienced trainers lead a range of courses from beginner to advanced levels.

A lecture room is situated within the main building and is accessible from the workshop. The technical training facility includes booths conforming to the latest industry standards, fitted with welding machines for different processes. Each welding booth is fitted with a fume extraction system.

“Motherwell Bridge Industries is equipped to deliver comprehensive technical training and aims to address the growing demand of specialized skills from various industries,” Hili Company Chief Executive Officer Davide Biron said.

“We are delighted to share the knowledge and expertise we have gained throughout many years of international operations with young people who aretaking their first steps in the world of work. We aim to give young people the necessary skills to enable them to pursue rewarding careers in their chosen
field.”
