The successful candidate shall be responsible for the day-to-day running of the service operations, allocating resources and monitoring personnel efficiency, and monitoring health and safety practices in assigned work areas and workshops. The Mechanical Foreman is responsible for all direct communication with clients and suppliers and with the Company’s Administration.
1. To provide technical overview and planning for specific jobs requested by clients and assigned to by the Operations Manager.
2. To operate as a hands-on team leader as per requirements of the works
3. Supervises job sites on each designated workday
4. To manage subcontractors as assigned by Operations Manager whenever jobs are being performed by subcontractors
5. To liaise directly with clients, client’s representatives and third parties involved for the correct planning and performance of respective jobs as assigned
6. To plan works on a daily basis in terms of personnel, material, tooling, facilities, third parties and logistics. These are to be planned in advance in discussion with Operations Manager
7. Anticipates problems and issues and personally acts on same if necessary, to help ensure schedules are met and work plans are enabled.
8. To solve onsite technical problems as far as possible and within one’s capabilities
9. To assist Operations Manager in reviewing new tasks and opportunities and report back information
The position calls for a technically-minded, energetic and organized individual, who can manage priorities when many important and urgent tasks arise simultaneously, and who can interact well with all stakeholders.
The selected candidate will have at least three years’ experience in a similar position, preferably in the mechanical engineering industry, should be in possession of a mechanical engineering qualification from a recognised institution, be able to work at heights and on own initiative with tight deadlines, and be a team player.
A valid driving licence together with good command of both written and spoken English and Maltese are a must. Additionally, the candidate will be computer literate and familiar with leading a team with good communication skills.
