At Motherwell Bridge Industries, we fabricate a wide range of staircases, including handrails for storage tanks with spiral shape and connecting platforms, emergency staircases for hotels, trade fair buildings, industrial construction projects, and bespoke industrial ladders with cage-systems. Fire escapes in buildings can also be fabricated in steel.

Based on requirements, our steel specialists can design and fabricate ladders, walkways and staircases in different materials and high carbon steel grades, galvanized or in stainless steel. We design and engineer spiral developments for staircases for domestic indoor use and can combine steel base structures with wood or marble stairs cladding in our industrial workshop.

Our workshop size and layout allows for the manufacture and trial assembly of parts for port container gantry cranes, port handling equipment, and other associated structures.

Fabrication and detail drawings for the gantry crane general arrangement are planned, including legs, sill beams, cross girders, diagonal members, superstructure, booms, tension bars, and upper girders. Plate cutting and nesting, bar cutting and CNC programs are then prepared.

We are also able to manufacture container gantry crane portals, boom and girders and ancillary work, intake and exhaust systems for turbine noise abatement systems, and stacks and ductwork for power generation applications.

The open layout of our workshop and a covered height of 13 metres under crane hook allows for the manufacture of sizeable steel ducts, exhaust systems, chimneys and other structures for large industries and power generation facilities.

We manufacture a range of steel structure items for various industries among which water, energy generation, and petrochemical. Among our products are pipe racks, pipe supports and vessel supports, which can also be based on customers’ own designs and which are entrusted to our Technical Proposal Department.

Our crews, including fully certified welders and fitters, are able to expertly install piping systems for industrial plants and petrochemical products. In Malta, our personnel has been engaged in the installation of the 8km Jet A1 pipeline for Enemalta (the local provider of petroleum products) running south from Malta International Airport to the company’s depots. The piping for the filtration system at the same location was also completed by our crews.

Storage tanks including vertical fixed roof, floating roof, horizontal and rectangular tanks are fabricated to diameters ranging from a few metres up to 50 metres. Materials conforming to the highest European or American standards, are available in grit-blasted and primed condition or bare untreated state. All tank designs adhere to BSEN 2654 or API 650. Alternatively they can be tailor-made to customers’ designs.

Motherwell Bridge manufactures double skin, horizontal, cylindrical underground tanks with an HDPE outer skin under licence. In humid or corrosive underground environments, these tanks are ideal since they do not need cathodic – protection or any special external coating.

Smaller tanks are fabricated entirely in the workshop, while larger ones are shipped in knocked down state with full instructions and drawings for on-site erection. Work on local sites is carried out by our own experienced crews.

Tank attachments can also be supplied to customer requirements via container shipment, these including ladders, stairways, manholes, nozzles, brackets, piping for drains and fire-fighting systems.

We also fabricate small to medium-sized pressure vessels designed to BSEN 5500 or ASME Div 1 and 2 in either carbon or alloy steel, with up to 30mm wall thickness. Motherwell Bridge can also design, manufacture and supply transportation and lifting beams, skids and ladders, and accessories for vessels and columns.

Motherwell Bridge handles sizable projects comprising several thousand tons of structural steel. Over the years our manufacturing and erection crews have accumulated experience fabricating structural frames for a range of industries among which construction, energy generation, water and the petrochemical industry.

The Drawing Office is responsible for the preparation of the general arrangement, layouts, longitudinal and transverse sections with their respective node details, columns and beams coded in their proper position. These will be sent for approval, after which all fabrication drawings including all respective details, levels, column and beam code names, staircases and steel accessories will be prepared.

In construction, past works have included steel frames for high-rise buildings, bridge erection, car parks, loading bays, canopies, portal frame structures and roof cladding.
