Electrical Technician

The Electrical Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems on port equipment, including Ship-to-Shore (STS) cranes, Rubber-Tyred Gantry (RTG) cranes, mobile equipment, vehicles, and other heavy industrial machinery. The role ensures that equipment operates safely, reliably, and in compliance within industry standards

Main Duties

  • Perform preventive and corrective electrical maintenance on cranes and terminal equipment.
  • Inspect and repair electrical  systems including motors, drives, PLCs, sensors, wiring, distribution  boards, and control panels.
  • Troubleshoot faults and diagnose failures using appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment.
  • Conduct routine tests, calibrations, and inspections to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Able to work on 1-phase and 3-phase systems which are not  connected to the grid
  • Support breakdown recovery to  minimise operational downtime.
  • Assist with installation, upgrades, and commissioning of new electrical systems and components

Technical Skills and Work Experience

•    Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems (AC/DC motors, VFDs,PLCs, relays, sensors).

•     Ability to read electrical drawings, schematics, and manuals.

•     Experience with diagnostic tools and electrical testing equipment.

•     Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

•     Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces when required.

•     Strong awareness of safety in heavy industrial and port environments.
